Join us in campaigning for gender equality.
We come together to shift the dial on gender equality being good for everyone in our community. We work with other groups to make a difference and have some fun too.
A quote from one of our members "It's great to be with like minded people and I get a real buzz when something we've been pushing for makes a difference"
At the Alliance for Women's Equality, we strive to create a world where gender equality is evident in every aspect of life. We aim to campaign and support initiatives that promote gender equality both locally and nationally.
We have 7 main aims that guide our campaigning
We create alliances in our community to take actions that shift attitudes around gender equality being good for everyone
(Like working with End Sexism in Schools to share the fact that school grades rise when the things kids read are diverse and not just Dickens!)
We hold the council to account on their commitments to ending VAWG and we shape their agenda
(Like getting the licensing committee to include Ask for Angela training in their review for all pubs in the Borough)
We keep the gender perspective in the conversation - who's voice is heard is part of building community, we're trying to make the invisible visible
(Like domestic violence being the largest reported crime in Richmond but that's not what people think!)
We have monthly meetings in Twickenham on the second Wednesday of the month from 19:30-21:00. Let us know if you would like to join remotely!
